2. Information I collect

Depending on how you contact or work with me, I may collect:

  • Your name

Required form fields are clearly identified. You do not have to submit an enquiry. If you leave out information needed to understand your request, I may be unable to respond or prepare a proposal.

Please do not include sensitive personal information in an enquiry unless it is genuinely necessary and I have asked you to provide it.

Technical information

When you visit the website or use the enquiry form, the services that run and protect it may process technical information such as:

  • Your IP address
  • Browser and device information
  • The date and time of a request
  • Requested pages or resources
  • Security, diagnostic and server log information
  • Information used to detect spam, attacks or misuse

I use this information to keep the website working and protect it from misuse.

Optional analytics information

If you accept optional analytics, Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity collect information about visits to this website. This may include pages viewed, where visitors came from and approximate location. It can also include browser details and interactions within the website, such as clicks or scrolling.

Microsoft Clarity creates visual summaries of where visitors click and scroll. It can also recreate a visit using activity captured within this website. It does not record what you do elsewhere on your device. Text entered into form fields is masked by Clarity.

3. How I collect information

I receive information directly from you when you:

  • Complete the enquiry form
  • Email or otherwise communicate with me
  • Request a quotation or proposal
  • Enter into a contract with me
  • Pay an invoice
  • Work with me on a project
  • Provide your business contact details during professional communication

Some technical information is collected automatically when you visit. If you accept optional analytics, Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity also collect information about how you use the website.

Where I rely on legitimate interests, I consider whether that use is necessary and reasonably expected. I also consider whether your rights should take priority.

5. Business and promotional emails

I may occasionally email existing or prospective business contacts about my work or availability where electronic marketing law allows it.

Depending on the recipient and circumstances, I may rely on legitimate interests or consent. I do not send unsolicited marketing emails to individuals, including sole traders, without consent unless a lawful exception applies.

Every promotional communication will identify me and provide a clear way to ask me to stop. You may object to direct marketing at any time by replying to the email or contacting hello@jeremiahhaastrup.com.

I may retain limited information about an objection so that I can respect it and avoid contacting you again for marketing purposes.

6. Who receives your information

I do not sell your personal information.

The following organisations may receive information where needed to provide their services:

Cloudflare

Cloudflare hosts and helps protect this website. It may process information such as IP addresses and records of website requests. Its Zaraz service remembers and applies your decision about optional analytics.

Google Workspace

Google Workspace provides my business email and related communication services. Enquiries and subsequent correspondence may therefore be stored and processed through Google Workspace.

Google reCAPTCHA

Where active, Google reCAPTCHA helps protect the enquiry form against spam and automated misuse. It may process technical and interaction information to determine whether a submission is legitimate.

Google Analytics 4

If you accept optional analytics, Google Analytics 4 measures visits and activity on this website. I use its reports to understand how people arrive at the site and which pages they use.

Advertising personalisation and Google signals are disabled for this Analytics property. I allow Google to combine Analytics data with data from other websites to produce industry insights that do not identify individual visitors. I also allow authorised Google support staff to access relevant account information when technical help is needed.

Read Google's Privacy Policy.

Microsoft Clarity

If you accept optional analytics, Microsoft Clarity helps me see which parts of this website people use and where they may experience difficulty. It creates visual summaries of activity and can recreate interactions that occur within this site. Its advertising permission is set to denied.

Read Microsoft's Privacy Statement.

Website and form infrastructure

The services used to receive and deliver your enquiry may process the details you submit so I can receive and respond to it.

Accounting and payment providers

If you become a client, relevant contact, billing and transaction information may be processed by the accounting, banking or payment providers I use to manage invoices and payments.

Professional advisers and authorities

Information may also be disclosed to accountants, insurers, legal advisers, regulators, courts or public authorities where this is reasonably necessary or legally required.

Service providers acting on my behalf are only permitted to process personal information for the relevant service and are expected to maintain appropriate security and confidentiality measures.

7. International transfers

Cloudflare, Google and Microsoft operate internationally. Some personal information may therefore be processed or accessed outside the United Kingdom.

Where information is transferred to a country without UK adequacy protection, the transfer must be covered by another legally recognised safeguard. The protection depends on the provider and destination. This may include contractual terms approved for UK data transfers.

You can contact me to ask which protections apply to your information and how to obtain further details.

8. How long I keep information

9. Cookies and similar technologies

This website uses cookies and similar technologies to function and protect itself. With your permission, it also uses them for analytics. Cookies are small files saved in your browser. They can expire earlier than the periods shown below if your browser restricts them.

Website operation and security

Cloudflare helps deliver and protect the website. Google reCAPTCHA helps protect the enquiry form from automated submissions. It may process technical information when active.

Cloudflare Zaraz uses the cf_consent cookie to remember whether you accepted or declined optional analytics. It applies that choice when you return.

Optional analytics

If you accept, Google Analytics 4 measures how this website is visited and used. Microsoft Clarity shows where people click or scroll, and can recreate activity within this website. It does not record your activity elsewhere on your device. I use the results to find areas of the site that could be improved.

I do not currently use these analytics to run advertising or remarketing campaigns. Advertising personalisation is disabled in Google Analytics. The advertising permission sent to Microsoft Clarity is denied.

The table lists cookies identified on this website. The durations describe how long they can remain in your browser. This is separate from how long providers keep their analytics records.

Microsoft provides further information about the cookies its service may use in its Clarity cookie documentation.

Your analytics preferences

Optional analytics load only after you accept them. Declining does not prevent you from browsing the website or using the enquiry form.

You can change your choice at any time by clicking Cookie Settings in the footer. If you withdraw permission, I will stop optional analytics and deal with information already collected as required by data protection law. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place while your permission was valid.

10. How I protect your information

I take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss or misuse and prevent access by people who are not authorised.

These measures may include:

  • HTTPS encryption
  • Secure and reputable service providers

  • Confidentiality arrangements where information is shared with collaborators or advisers

No internet service or method of electronic storage can guarantee complete security. I take reasonable steps to reduce the risks.

11. Automated decisions

I do not use personal information to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

Automated security and spam detection systems may analyse or block suspicious form submissions, but they are not used to make significant decisions about you.

12. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information I hold about you
  • Ask me to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Ask me to delete your information

You will not normally be charged for making a request.

13. Data protection complaints

Email hello@jeremiahhaastrup.com with “Data protection complaint” in the subject line and include:

  • Your name and contact details
  • A description of your concern
  • Any relevant dates or correspondence
  • What you would like me to do

I will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond without undue delay. I will explain the outcome when my review is complete.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator responsible for data protection. You can find current complaint and contact information on the ICO website.

14. External websites

This website may contain links to other websites, including social media or client sites.

I am not responsible for how those external organisations collect or use personal information. You should review their privacy notices before providing information to them.

15. Children’s information

This website and my professional services are not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the project enquiry form.

If you believe that a child has submitted personal information, please contact me so that I can take appropriate action.

16. Changes to this policy

I may update this Privacy Policy if the services I use or the way I handle information changes, or if the law requires it.

The current version will be published on this page with an updated date. If a change substantially affects how existing information is used, I will take reasonable steps to inform the people affected.
